Powder Blue

This movie features an ensemble cast of people in crisis whose lives intersect in LA.  What a crap fest: depressing, poorly written, improbable plots, overacted, overwrought, taking itself way too seriously and trying way too hard to be profound.  Jessica Biel must have thought she was going to be the next Charlize Theron from “Monster” because she pulled out all the stops in her performance.  The trouble is, instead of showing us her acting range she just looked like a really bad actor showing off in acting class.  She was more Elizabeth Berkley from “Showgirls” than Meryl Streep.  And I really expected more from Forrest Whitaker in his selection of a script.  It was sort of nice to see Ray Liotta again, but not nice enough to recommend this movie.  It would be one thing if you couldn’t tell they thought they were making the next “Traffic.”  Ugh.
